| Renowned Guitarist and Producer Ira Ingber signs on to master Music for Space Travel |
| Mon, Jun. 23 2008 |
Ira’s long and illustrious career includes work with such artists as Captain Beefheart, J.D. Souther, Karla Bonoff, Jennifer Warnes, Andrew Gold, and Bonnie Raitt. Ira is perhaps best known for his work with Bob Dylan on several albums as well as is involvement as both musician and producer of scores with a wide range of projects including the Howard Stern move, Private Parts, the Robert-Altman-directed The Company, and the Brian Wilson/Van Dyke Parks collaborative album, Orange Crate Art. “Ira brings a stunning level of experience and an ear that is deeply attuned to the natural warmth found in recordings from the seventies,” Jay explained. “Most recordings of the last decade reflect the over-produced digital sound that has become a mainstay of modern pop music. Ira is able to use modern digital technology without turning the album into a flat, lifeless piece of bubble gum. The Mastering Engineer’s purpose is to bring a new set of ears to the final stages of the album, and what a set of ears they are!” “Perhaps what is most amazing to us is the way this all came about. Laurence brought a few of the mixes he was working on over to Ira’s studio for some feedback on how the mix was taking shape. Not only did Ira like the album, he offered on the spot to master it.” The Abstract is thrilled at Ira’s involvement and enthusiasm for the project. This news represents a growing level of interest in Music for Space Travel and The Abstract Sound. For more information of Ira, be sure to check out his website. |

| Laurence Schwarz Joins as Mixing Engineer |
| Tue, Jun. 3 2008 |
The Abstract Sound is excited to announce that west coast musician and sound engineer Laurence Schwarz will oversee the final mixing of Music for Space Travel. After years of living on the east coast and working as a jazz drummer and engineer, Laurence returned to Los Angeles to work on several television shows including Battlestar Galactica and The Sara Connor Chronicles. “I finally hit the wall of what I could accomplish with editing and mixing the album,” Jay told us recently. “Laurence brings a level of skill and experience to the final mixing that the rest of the Sound lacks. Not only does Laurence hear music the same way we do, he also brings fresh ideas and technical skills essential to completion of the album.” Along with mixing, Laurence will be mastering the supplemental album, Deep Space. We are happy to see such musical cohesion between Laurence and the rest of the band and we have no doubt that great things will come from this new relationship. |

| Extended Album Announcement |
| Tue, Jan. 1 2008 |
The Abstract Sound announced today that along with their new release "Music for Space Travel," the band will release several tracks of additional material entitled "Deep Space." Comprised of gentle sonic washes and pulsating frequencies, "Deep Space" is a companion piece to "Music for Space Travel" that picks up where the first album leaves off. "As this series of music is designed with the yoga practitioner in mind, we wanted to provide additional tools to enhance a variety of practices,” Jay explained. “The recording sessions provided us with some interesting loops that we used as the basis for several new compositions that are ideal for relaxation, deep-stretch yoga, meditation, and massage.” Described as “womb music” because of the sense of gentle floating that it imparts, “Deep Space” is being edited in such a way that “Music for Space Travel” flows seamlessly into it. According to Brandon, “the compositions on this album truly allow the mind to un-tether itself from the worries of the day. It’s almost impossible not to float away blissfully as these warm waves of sound wash through you.” Currently the Abstract Sound plans to exclusively offer this companion piece as a digital download from this website. “Although, we want our music to reach as many people as possible,” Jay notes. “We always want to make sure and offer exclusive content to our fans and friends who frequent the website.” Unencumbered by the limitations of CD media, “Deep Space” will provide four additional tracks running approximately ten minutes each. It can be added onto "Music for Space Travel" and played as a single fluid piece of music that floats back into itself.. |
